Russian native speaker, fluent in English. I teach conversational Russian and English. I provide editing services and teach academic and business writing in both languages. I am fluent in Ukrainian and understand French.
Master Degree with honours in Education and History from Kharkiv Pedagogical University (Ukraine), Master Degree in East European History from Central European University (now in Vienna, Austria), Doctorate in History from University of Alberta, Canada.
I have taught English and Russian, individual lessons and groups. I run a podcast Learn Russian Conversation (lrcpodcast.ca, published 170 episodes) for intermediate and advanced students. I run a Russian conversation club for the customers of the website.
I make my students practice specific grammar by listening, speaking, learning by heart phrases and dialogues. For basic levels, I refer my students to Pimsleur website and teach them how to practice grammar instead of drilling the rules. Every student is different, every group has its own dynamics, I easily adjust the pace and offer exercises to help students develop their confidence in speaking a foreign language.
