I am a dynamic and creative teacher. I am experienced in both teaching languages and learning them. I offer individual and small group classes. In addition to full lessons, I also offer speaking practice and shadowing for self-learners. Russian and Ukrainian are my two native languages, and I have spoken English for most of my life. I hold a degree in International Relations from the University of Calgary. I learnt Arabic in university and now I'm learning Romanian. I will be useful to motivated individuals wishing to master a language, and to foreign students who might struggle with more formal, academic language.
Bachelor of Arts in International Relations at University of Calgary
English for Academic Purposes at the University of Calgary
Intensive Arabic Language Summer program at Al-Akhawayn University in Morocco
TEFL Academy: Teaching English as a Foreign Language
Five years tutoring English to children and adults, and Russian and Ukrainian to adults
I follow two main lesson structures used in language teaching today, but I place the stress on practise. Practising productive skills in particular is the most important part of the language learning process. Ideally, a student should have at least two lessons a week, and I prefer to dedicate the second lesson entirely to practice.Groups are great because this setting gives plenty of opportunity to practise with other students and allows for more fun activities.
I'm quite flexible during the summer and work well around the time difference. We can discuss our schedules and chose an option that works best for both of us.
