Hi there, I'm Karol, a full-time Mandarin tutor. I was born and raised in Beijing, China, and currently reside in Vancouver, Canada. I'm bilingual, friendly, patient, and passionate about teaching.
I am experienced in teaching and fully certified with the Certificate of Accreditation in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. TCSL is to certify that I have successfully completed both the Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL) theoretical and practical teaching examinations.
I've been working with various students for 3 years, and gained diverse teaching methodologies from international learners. I'm passionate about teaching. I specialize in daily-use, cultural and professional Chinese. I focus more on pronunciation and most commonly used phrases and expressions. Looking forward to working with you.
My students' needs are important to me. Through understanding their biggest needs, I can customize the course material more specific and suitable for every student. The previous experience showed that this can make my lesson more effective and valuable, It also helped keep my students motivated and engaged. I view the tutor-student relationship as a partnership. I love to work with my students and continuously give encouragement and constructive feedback along the way. While helping my students improve their Chinese in different areas, my ultimate goal is to help the students become independent learners. I will teach them how to use available resources around them to better understand things.
I'm available Monday to Sunday, 9:00am - 19:00.
Due to the current pandemic situation, I prefer online teaching. However, if students require an in-person meeting, I'm also flexible with that.
