Brazilian teacher with over 24 years of experience, including 14+ years teaching in Vancouver. Passionate about helping students of all levels—from beginners to advanced—achieve their language goals through engaging and personalized lessons.
Since 2002, I’ve been teaching children and adults—both in person and online—from a wide range of backgrounds.
In 2014, I founded MD Tutoring Services, dedicated to providing high-quality private lessons. With the rise of online learning in 2020, my lessons became fully virtual, allowing students to learn comfortably from anywhere.
Since 2018, I’ve also been volunteering as an ESL teacher for low-income families in Brazil, an experience that continues to inspire me every day. I truly love what I do and feel grateful to help others learn and grow!
Every student is unique—and so is my way of teaching! I adapt my lessons to fit each learner’s style, whether they’re just starting or already advanced.
My classes are full of games, fun activities, and interactive moments that make learning exciting. And after each lesson, students receive free homework sheets to keep practicing and making progress from home!

Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have transitioned to offering online-only lessons. Students continue to receive the same high-quality instruction—now from the comfort and convenience of their own homes.
Marcella is awesome! I've been taking classes since 2022 and I could quickly started having basic conversations in Portuguese. Also, probably the best feature about her classes is the flexibility to move classes around based on her and my availability. Classes are really fun and you learn both Portuguese and about Brazilian culture Highly recommended

You can tell she is a trained teacher as she guides throughout personalized lesson plans and supports your own individual goals. Marcella always worked hard to prepare all lessons. If she was personally having a bad day, she never showed it. She was always such a pleasure to work with. Furthermore, she was very patient, even with a gringo like me who is not too good with foreign languages. She also was very flexible with her schedule, always able to adjust to fit me in at a time convenient for me. I recommend Marcella very highly.
