Hello, my name is Kiara. Born and raised in a bilingual household on the coast of the Dominican Republic I grew up learning English and Spanish. Having completed the 140 Hour Master TEFL and having experience tutoring for a year I am ready to take your language learning experience to the next level.
I have completed the 140 Hour Master TEFL, which provided me with many skills such as mnemonics, grammatical terminology, class planning, motivation exercises, elements of pronunciation, ESOL, student assessment, young learners and more.
I’ve had the opportunity to teach English and Spanish to students of all ages, from young learners to university-level students., I began developing lessons that focus on communication, fluency, and academic writing. I’ve helped learners strengthen their grammar, pronunciation, and critical thinking skills while preparing for exams, university studies, and professional goals. I enjoy adapting each lesson to match my students’ learning styles and interests, whether through discussions, creative writing, or real-world practice.
My teaching approach is all about connection and adaptability. I get to know my students’ interests and motivations so I can shape lessons that feel engaging and meaningful to them. I mix conversation practice, grammar, and cultural insights to create a well-rounded experience. Above all, I aim to make my students feel confident using the language in real situations, not just in the classroom.
I’m available for lessons Monday through Wednesday and on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and I’m happy to adjust my schedule when possible to accommodate your needs.
I offer both online classes and in-person sessions in public spaces such as cafés or libraries, depending on what’s most convenient for you.
