Engaging piano teacher available to teach theory to those attempting to fulfill requirements for the RCM level. Love the challenge of helping students understand. Possess a good sense of humour and patience..willing to work with you as much as you require. Also available to teach piano, but at this time, very little spaces for piano.
I possess an ARCT (Teacher's) from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto, 2 Master degrees, B.A Hons, and a law degree. Also a member of ORMTA (Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association), on the RCM Teachers' Directory,
Almost 40 years experience. past president of the Ottawa West Junior Music Club, many students have taken exams with the RCM or participated in Kiwanis Music Festival, juries, and other events.
For piano I use a middle C approach and work out from there. I have a method book, but try to make it fun by introducing other pieces when the students are ready. For theory, we work in the RCM (or specific book needed in a student's course), and also do extra exercises where needed. I then go through old exams with a student and mark them. Once we have three exams where the student has achieved 95%, then we register for the "real one".
Available all days, although better ones for me are M-W. I also teach very early for those wanting too take a lesson before work. I have some evening spaces on Monday, and one evening one on Wed after 8:30. I do not teach T-Sunday.
For theory, I am doing on-line lessons. Piano I am doing in my home.
