Native English speaker with a great deal of one-on-one tutoring experience; also specializing in accent reduction. I am also able to help with writing skills.
BA (Hons) in Latin, English and Linguistics. Lots of experience in tutoring in English, Latin, and Ancient Greek. I speak French and Spanish as well.
I have spent a great deal of time in one-on-one tutoring with advanced English students, helping them to perfect their English skills and reduce or ameliorate their accent. I am also available to help improve a student's writing skills.
My approach is customized for each student, but is based on a linguistic approach--we can do a variety of activities including watching and commenting on media, reading and writing. I usually spend some time with a student to evaluate where they need the most help and then concentrate on that. I can create exercises that will help the student with syntax or accentual problems. I also recommend learning the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) as a way to assist with accent work. I am also an expert in grammar and can help to explain the reasons why something should be said in a certain way.
