I am a native English speaker. My "Mother Tongue" accent is one of the purest in North America. I love tutoring and always feel that my lessons are more like visits between friends. I especially love to share all the nuances of the English language.
I hold a bachelor's degree in English literature and fine art. I am a certified secondary teacher in British Columbia. I am also a certified ESL instructor. (Oxford Seminars)
Nine years teaching English, art, and humanities in junior and senior high schools. I ran a successful business for twenty years, so I have lots of experience with business transactions. I have tutored Korean and Syrian students in person and one Turkish student online.
At our first meeting I we will determine your individual needs, whether mostly conversational fluency, accent, and/or correct usage. I tend to focus on fluency supported by grammar lessons, story telling, and business dialogue (if needed).
I can be flexible to meet student's needs, however, I'm always tied up Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.
I prefer to teach online, however, I'm willing to consider in person lessons in my home or in a student's home if nearby in the Comox/Courtenay area.
