Professional Experience
I started teaching Spanish in 2016 through my involvement with a Canadian NGO back in Bolivia, my country of origin. I helped Canadian volunteers acquire the language through individual lessons with an additional component of cultural proficiency to help them adapt to their posting. After moving to Ottawa this past August, I offered private lessons through ads on Kijiji. I have been an instructor for youth and adults in various settings since 2014. Besides my experience as a Spanish teacher I have been a teacher’s assistant and guest lecturer for various courses in Universities in Bolivia and Canada for the past 5 years, therefore I have experience managing classroom settings and delivering lessons, as well as developing course materials and grading. Additionally, I also have experience as a workshop facilitator for human resources companies and self-driven research projects. Furthermore, I am very passionate about languages, both teaching and learning them, being fluent in Spanish, English and Italian and with basic knowledge of Japanese and French.
Teaching Approach
In my experience as a private Spanish teacher, I have always used the communicative approach to establish an immersive learning environment that would deliver tangible results to students. Additionally, I recognize language as a vehicle to transmit culture, therefore I stress its paramount importance in my lessons. With my current Masters in Cultural Studies, I have further refined my knowledge of intercultural communication in order to provide an enriched cultural experience to students, that involves historical and current political issues and critical perspectives.

Teaching Place(s)
I am based close to the Museum of History in Hull, across the river from parliament hill. We could arrange to meet somewhere in the area, including cafes or libraries in Vieux Hull, ByWard Market or Downtown Ottawa. Eventually, i could also be willing to meet at your place if it is more comfortable for you.
