I am a recent masters graduate from Cornell University studying environmental engineering. I am a native speaker of mandarin Chinese, and am conversational in French. Since I am a passionate language lover, I also learned some German and can understand Japanese.

Teaching Approach
I have learned languages by both attending classes and self teaching. Drawing from my personal experience, I think it is important and more efficient to listen and speak without the fear of making mistakes, so I would encourage my students to watch tv/movies and read books/articles in the language that they want to learn, and be brave enough to make mistakes. Repetition is another important factor in language learning, especially when you have a rather short period of time to learn, so I would ask my students to practice as much as possible.
