I am an English speaking Canadian. I have a University degree in Education from the University of Manitoba, and a certificate to teach English from the University of Winnipeg. I have over twenty years of experience as as Early Childhood Educator, and 5 years experience tutoring English, and instructing English classes as a substitute instructor.
I have attended various professional development workshops related to encouraging listening and speaking in English. I am working at an on-line course in French, at an intermediate level.
I have had over 20 years experience as an early childhood educator. A large part of our day was involved in developing literacy skills. In the last 5 years, I have worked as a tutor with international students from beginner to advanced levels,and helped a woman prepare for citizen ship exams.
I normally begin with a needs assessment for a new student, and use this information to plan future lessons. In planning the lessons I use a number of on-line resources and techniques I have observed experienced teachers using in class I try to use a communicative approach...and keep in mind what is relevant to the student.
I am flexible, and will make every effort to adapt to the students schedule.
At a clients home, at a Winnipeg library, or a coffee shop at a quiet time.
