I hold a PhD in Food Science and Nutrition, as well as a teaching diploma to teach computer science in secondary schools.
I have taught the basics of computer science for 11 years in secondary school and nutrition for 2 years in post-secondary school. As a mother working with my children at home, I can easily fit in tutoring online. I also have a great ability in the use of the Visio conference application (Zoom, Teams and Google Meet), Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel etc), and e-learning platform (Moodle).
I teach relying on the needs and difficulties of learners, according to a diagnostic evaluation done before to evaluate the level of the student. Based on the available curriculum, I structure my lessons. I use real-life events to illustrate my examples. At the beginning of a new lesson, I used to remember the rules of grammar and vocabulary seen during the last session. During class time, I can use tools like Kahoot for fun practices, quizzes to evaluate the understanding, and emphasize on the notion still difficult for the learners. Concrete projects like PowerPoint presentations, writing a report, debates can also be done to integrate multiple skills.
