PhD Candidate at the Centre for Medieval Studies, the University of Toronto. Four years' experience tutoring Latin at the MA and PhD levels at the University. 1 year's class-room experience and three years' one-on-one tutoring experience in the Yiddish language.
Passes in both the MA- and PhD-level Latin examinations at the Toronto Centre for Medieval Studies, 2010. 2008 Winner of the Percy Matenko Scholarship in Yiddish; Winner of the Ann (Medres) Glass Memorial Scholarship in Yiddish for 2007 and 2009. Pass in Irish Language (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge Level 1 with distinction)
1 year's experience conducting an MA-level Latin reading tutorial and three years' experience tutoring PhD-level Latin Grammar at the University of Toronto. 1 year's class-room experience at the Annex Shul and three years' one-on-one tutoring experience in the Yiddish language.
My Latin tutoring centres around two principle texts: Wheelock's Latin and Moreland & Fleischer's Latin: an Intensive Course. The teaching pace is tailored to challenge the student based on his/her own aptitudes and goals, with progress solidified by regular revision. My Yiddish instruction is based on Weinreich's College Yiddish and Sheva Zucker's Yiddish: An Introduction to the Language, Literature & Culture. Depending on the priorities of the student, emphasis may be placed on the conversational language or the rich literary heritage for which it is the medium.
I am flexible and can easily adapt to the student's schedule.
I am equally flexible in teaching location: my home, the student's home; a public/university library, or tutorials via skype are all available to suit the learner's preference.
