Native English speaker with over ten years experience as an English tutor in cross-cultural settings. Fluent in Portuguese and Spanish with extensive living experience abroad. I have taught English in Japan and have over four years experience teaching Chinese learners in classroom and online at private language schools.
My education has taught me to be well informed of global issues and apply new and insightful topics to learners who are interested in international ways of thinking about cultural awareness and events of the day.
I have a Bachelors and a Masters degree from Canadian universities and extensive ESL training from a language school in Japan as well as having offered IELTS, SAT and TOEFL classes with extensive experience in curriculum development.
I have worked for over ten years as a tutor to a variety of global learners. I taught English in Japan for one year at a top language school. I lived for over seven years in Brazil where I taught ESL for Business professionals and other learners while also teaching English on an online platform to Chinese students. Having lived in Vancouver recently, I have taught Chinese students grammar, literature and essay writing at private language institutes. I have also been working as a tutor with a private language school for French-speaking government employees for the last three years using an online platform here in Canada.
I have the skills to develop lessons for any level of learner and create a study plan for your specific needs, offering creative and engaging classes. Lessons usually include task-based teaching strategies and focus on the use of authentic language with target vocabulary and expressions. I am able to focus on English grammar for all levels or offer conversation classes based on requirements or a combination of both.
I am flexible and can easily adapt to a student's schedule with availability opening up in May 2022
