Private Mandarin teacher teaches young and adult learners in person with interactive and immersive styles
Hi there, my name is Zimo. Mandarin is my native language, and it's an absolute pleasure to share that knowledge with people who are interested. I studied International Economic Policy at Carleton University, then I found myself enjoying teaching Mandarin very much at the rarest opportunity. Now I've been teaching for three years, and I look forward to meeting more people who share similar interests in the future!
I teach kids at around ages 5 -10. I have three years of teaching experience. My classes are conducted one-on-one and in person (at the student's house). I'm interested in working with kids and adults at beginner levels and creating fun, immersive, and interactive learning experiences. My class is heavily speaking-oriented on basic and daily vocabulary and conversations. Meanwhile, you'll learn pinyin, simplified Chinese characters, and more. I create customized class plans for each student depending on their levels, paces, and study habits. Everyone can learn Mandarin comfortably (enough) and productively.
My class is usually two hours on average, once a week. But you are welcome to adjust the schedule based on your needs and availability.
Please briefly introduce yourself and share as much of your perspective on the class as you prefer when you message. Once we have an in-person meeting and agree on the details, an agreement/ guideline will be signed. We can officially start our lesson from there! I appreciate your interest, and I look forward to meeting you!
In my classroom, we would sing a song together, read out loud flashcards (of that class), have fun games using the new words and phrases we learned, and form easy sentences and questions. I would cover many topics starting with pinyin and 4 tonnes, and moving on to numbers, colors, animals, family members, body parts and so much more. I would integrate simplified Chinese characters along the way, easy to difficult. I would often plan fun and educational activities like crafting, drawing, and playing board games in the lesson. I also love to plan holiday themes for kids like Chinese New Year, Christmas, Mother’s Day, etc. When the weather is nice, I like to arrange outdoor activities.
I always keep good communication with the parents and answer their questions on the learning process and classroom behavior etc.
