Hi! I am a Mandarin/Chinese native speaker who studied Education for a year at a Taiwanese University. I have experience in tutoring both native and non-native speakers. My clients are at all different ages, so feel free to send me an inquiry. 
I was an in-class assistant for the Chinese program at the University of British Columbia. I won multiple prizes in Chinese contests when I was studying in Taiwan. I understand both simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese.

Education / Certificates
  • International Relations and Law & Society graduate from the University of British Columbia
  • Education major at National Chengchi University (Taiwan) for a year before transferring. 
  • Received 2 offers in "Chinese Literature Major" from Taiwanese universities: National Normal University and National Central University.
Professional Experience
  • Taught kids (7y+) Chinese daily conversation, Zhu Yin, Pin Yin, and helping them to build up basic language skills. 
  • Assisted secondary Taiwanese students with Chinese writing and preparing for the high school Chinese entrance exam. 
  • Assisted adults to improve their Chinese conversational, writing abilities, and I tailor my class materials based on clients' needs. E.g. business conversation, academic writing.
  • Award winner: 1st prize in the United Daily News Chinese Composition Contest, 5th prize in the Citywide Chinese Composition Contest in Taipei City.
Teaching Approach

Teaching approaches and lengths are negotiable. 

I create handouts, sample tests, and assignments for my students of all ages.

I am very skilled in Chinese writing and I am able to help students with advanced academic writing problems. I'm also well-educated in classical Chinese (文言文).
