Bonjour! My name is Emma, and I am a native French speaker currently on exchange at UBC. I study Political Science and Economics at Sciences Po Paris, one of France’s leading universities. I am passionate about languages, cultures, and communication, and I would love to share French with learners here in Vancouver. I have experience tutoring French back home, where I worked with immigrant children and teenagers aged 6 to 17, supporting them with homework and helping them strengthen their French skills. This experience taught me to adapt my teaching to different ages and levels, and to create a supportive, motivating environment for learning. My teaching approach is flexible and interactive: I focus on conversation to build confidence, while also helping with grammar, vocabulary, and cultural understanding. Whether you are a beginner, preparing for school, or simply want to practice everyday communication, I adapt lessons to your goals and pace. Whether you are starting from scratch or looking to improve your French, I’d be happy to guide you every step of the way!

Education / Certificates

I am an undergraduate student in Political Science and Economics at Sciences Po Paris, one of France’s top universities. My studies are in English, and I am currently spending a year on exchange at UBC. Later on, I hope to work in environmental protection through public policy and economics.

Professional Experience

Before coming to Vancouver, I volunteered as a French tutor for immigrant children in France. I worked with students aged 6 to 17, helping them with their homework and supporting their learning of the French language. This experience taught me how to adapt my teaching to different ages, levels, and needs, while making learning supportive and motivating.

Teaching Approach

I believe that learning a language should be both practical and enjoyable, with my priority being to create a supportive environment for learning! I focus on interactive conversation to build confidence, while also working on grammar and vocabulary in a clear and simple way. I adapt my lessons to each student’s goals—whether that means helping with schoolwork, practicing everyday communication, or exploring French culture. For younger learners, I use games, stories, and creative exercises to keep lessons engaging. For older students, I like to use discussions, real-life examples, and written practice to make French useful in daily life.
