As an author and copyeditor with three years of tutoring experience, I have an intense appreciation for the written and spoken word. I believe in lifelong learning and am passionate about assisting others to achieve their academic and career goals. I also know that the key to success is patience.
I am a published author with a BA in Psychology, an Academic Writing Certificate from Queen's University, and a certification in copyediting. I have been a freelance writer for over 2 decades with several journalistic credits to my name, and have been tutoring online for the past three years.
I have enjoyed online tutoring for the last three years, through Varsity Tutors where I have taught a variety of language arts subjects as well as psychology, public speaking, interview prep, and sociology. I am a published author and copyeditor with several years' experience facilitating writers' groups. I earned a Canadian Achievers' Award in 1985, and in my capacity as founder/director of a millinery museum, I have lectured audiences on womens' social history for over twenty years.
My client-centered approach to tutoring is to establish a rapport, assess a student's learning style, skills, and challenges, while keeping in mind the student's immediate needs and long-term goals. We then establish a workable learning plan that is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
