I graduated with a degree in Music from McGill University. I’ve also been teaching piano for many years, which has given me a lot of experience in guiding students and helping them improve. I know how to make my students feel comfortable and ensure that my lessons are both enjoyable and effective.
I have been teaching piano, Korean, and English in South Korea and Canada. I have been teaching Korean for over 8 years.
I teach the Korean alphabet, conversation, reading, writing, idioms, and Korean culture. We can also have free and fun conversations about K-pop, dramas, or everyday life in Korea.
In my classes, I use a variety of resources such as PDFs, MP3s, video clips, and textbooks. I give small homework assignments after each lesson and review tests after finishing every unit. If you’d like to improve your writing, I’ll encourage you to keep a short journal or write about interesting topics — then we’ll review and correct it together during class.
I always encourage my students to speak Korean as much as possible, because speaking out loud is one of the best ways to learn a language! Most importantly, I want you to feel relaxed and confident in my class — don’t worry about making mistakes, because that’s how we all learn.

I contacted Eun Young because my friend and I were planning on going to Korea for a short vacation together. We wanted to be able to read Hangul and be able to ask very basic questions (ordering food etc.). Eun Young was able to get us to read Hangul in less than a month (at 2 sessions per week), and we are beginning to be able to ask questions. Comfort in a language requires practice outside of lessons, but Eun Young was able to register that we were struggling to make time to practice and kept pace with what we needed. We really enjoyed our lessons with her and would recommend her!
She's patient, and her explanations are very easy to follow. I've improved so much in various ways since starting with her. I would say these lessons have been so much more effective compare to other lessons. If you're looking to learn Korean, this is definitely the lesson I would suggest, and I highly recommend Eunyoung - she's fantastic!
Eun Young is a very patient and excellent language teacher. She is currently teaching my two daughters once a week. Her teaching style is very clear and communicative. I have had other teachers where communication was sometimes difficult. She is also very responsive in messages and requests feedback on lessons. I highly recommend her.

Eun Young is an excellent linguistics teacher, and I feel as though I've learned so much in the few lessons we've already had! she's a very patient, capable, and understanding teacher. I enjoy that she is intentional about incorporating topics that I enjoy, such as kpop, kdrama, korean food, into the lessons each week!
I’m a complete beginner at Korean and I’m very interested in kpop and the culture. Eun Young has been very helpful in making sure lessons aren’t too difficult to understand and that the material gradually increases in difficulty.
