Hello! :) I'm a native Korean speaker who is very friendly, knowledgeable, responsible, and patient. I have been teaching Korean to English speakers for over 8 years. I graduated with a degree in music from McGill University. I have been teaching piano as well, which means I am a very experienced teacher. I know how to make my students feel comfortable studying with me and make my lessons enjoyable and effective.
I have been teaching piano, Korean and English in South Korea and Canada. I have been teaching Korean for over 8 years.
Before the lesson, I will ask my student about what area he/she wants to learn. I will prepare materials for every class based on the student's goals and needs. I teach the Korean alphabet, conversation, writing, reading, idioms, Korean culture, etc. Or we can freely talk about K-pop, dramas or social issues, etc. I use pdf files, mp3 files, flashcards, pictures, video clips, and some textbooks whenever necessary. I prefer to use a textbook with other materials for beginner students. I do my best to make my lesson enjoyable and effective. I give homework every class and provide a test sometimes for review. And for students who want to improve their writing skills, I ask them to write a journal or write about the topics I give. We go over the writing homework, and I correct the mistakes during lessons. Also, I try to provide many opportunities to speak Korean during lessons. I believe that opening a mouth and speaking aloud is very important when learning a foreign language. Lastly, I try to make my students feel comfortable studying with me, not to be afraid of making mistakes.
I am flexible and can easily adapt to a student's schedule. Green will identify available time slots.

I contacted Eun Young because my friend and I were planning on going to Korea for a short vacation together. We wanted to be able to read Hangul and be able to ask very basic questions (ordering food etc.). Eun Young was able to get us to read Hangul in less than a month (at 2 sessions per week), and we are beginning to be able to ask questions. Comfort in a language requires practice outside of lessons, but Eun Young was able to register that we were struggling to make time to practice and kept pace with what we needed. We really enjoyed our lessons with her and would recommend her!
She's patient, and her explanations are very easy to follow. I've improved so much in various ways since starting with her. I would say these lessons have been so much more effective compare to other lessons. If you're looking to learn Korean, this is definitely the lesson I would suggest, and I highly recommend Eunyoung - she's fantastic!
Eun Young is a very patient and excellent language teacher. She is currently teaching my two daughters once a week. Her teaching style is very clear and communicative. I have had other teachers where communication was sometimes difficult. She is also very responsive in messages and requests feedback on lessons. I highly recommend her.

Eun Young is an excellent linguistics teacher, and I feel as though I've learned so much in the few lessons we've already had! she's a very patient, capable, and understanding teacher. I enjoy that she is intentional about incorporating topics that I enjoy, such as kpop, kdrama, korean food, into the lessons each week!
I’m a complete beginner at Korean and I’m very interested in kpop and the culture. Eun Young has been very helpful in making sure lessons aren’t too difficult to understand and that the material gradually increases in difficulty.
