Hi there! I’m a native speaker of both Cantonese and Mandarin, and I can help you learn these languages the way native speakers do.
At the same time, I’m currently studying abroad in an English-speaking country, so I really understand what it’s like to learn a second language.
When I was learning English in China, I noticed that the methods were often not very “authentic.” Because of this, I can compare native learning styles with second-language learning strategies, and guide you to a more natural and effective way of learning.
In our lessons, I can easily switch between three languages: teaching Cantonese through Mandarin, Mandarin through Cantonese, or even in English—depending on what works best for you. I'm thrilled to embark on this journey of exploring the Chinese language with you.
I am currently a student at the University of Ottawa.
While I’m still building my teaching experience, I’m eager to put my knowledge into practice and grow as a language tutor.
If the learner's goal is daily communication for living, focus more on practicing conversation in real-life scenarios, such as shopping: learning how to ask for prices, bargain, and make payments. Dining at a restaurant: learning how to order food, asking about taste preferences, and paying the bill. Asking for directions: learning to inquire about locations, and directions, and describe landmarks. If the goal is for exams, then start with learning pinyin pronunciation rules, tones, and unique Chinese strokes.
Please refer to the schedule below for my specific availability
I prefer teaching online(such as via Skype, Google Meeting, or Zoom), but we can also meet at a public place for our lessons if that works better for you.
