Hello, I am a native Arabic speaker. I was born in Syria but grew up in Vancouver, BC. I have three years of experience in tutoring young kids in Kumon, as well as coaching the RUFC Brighton Boys youth Soccer team. I am currently a student at the University of British Columbia double-majoring in Political Science and Psychology.
I am double-majoring in Political Science and Psychology at the University of British Columbia. Currently, I am in my second year on the Vancouver Campus. I graduated from Richmond Secondary School with Principal's Honour Roll and Service Award.
I have volunteered at multiple non profit organizations such as Blanket BC, Islamic Relief Canada, Save Hastings Organization, and the Richmond Food Bank Society.
As well as, working as a tutor in Kumon, helping young students with mathematics and currently I have been coaching the RUFC Brighton Boys youth Soccer team.
I am a fluent native speaker in the Arabic language and can teach on different levels depending on the students' abilities and goals. With beginners, I would start with a lighter approach, introducing the students to the Arabic Alphabets pronunciation and trying to familiarize the students with the language and sentence structures, and forming. As I tutor advanced students, I would focus on complex grammar structures, vocabulary that is more nuanced, and reading and writing skills that are more advanced. This would mean looking at real Arabic texts, such as news articles and books, to better understand the context and cultural meaning. I would also put a lot of emphasis on conversational fluency and idiomatic language so that students can confidently take part in discussions, debates, and formal communication based on their goals.
I am a full time UBC student; however, outside of my lecture time, I am flexible and can easily adapt to the students schedule.
I am able to teach online and in person at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Campus.
