As a native of Shanghai, I am proud to offer my expertise in Mandarin Chinese as a tutor. With perfect fluency in the language and a rich cultural and educational background, I am confident in my ability to provide a valuable learning experience. My passion for literature was recognized when I won a book review award in my city, and I look forward to sharing my love for language and culture with my students.
I began my formal education in Shanghai, where I attended both elementary and middle school. After that, I moved to Niagara and then to Oakville to complete my high school education. I am in my third year at the University of Toronto (math and physics double major). My diverse academic journey has provided me with a breadth of experience and knowledge, and I am eager to apply my skills as a tutor in Mandarin Chinese.
I have gained valuable experience in teaching and caring for children through my previous roles. As a teaching assistant at St. Catharines Chinese School, I developed the ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans while also providing individual attention to students. Additionally, I have spent a considerable amount of time taking care of children, which has allowed me to build a strong rapport with them and develop the patience necessary to guide them through the learning process. My outgoing personality has also allowed me to connect with students and make learning fun. In my free time, I often teach my friends Chinese, which has allowed me to further refine my teaching skills.
My teaching approach is flexible and personalized to suit each student's individual needs and goals. If you want to hold a decent conversation in Mandarin Chinese, I will start by teaching basic grammar and vocabulary and then guide you through examples and practice exercises. I believe that practice and real-life applications are crucial for language learning. Alternatively, if you want to interpret Chinese literature, I will take a more analytical approach and work with you to read and analyze traditional books. However, ultimately, I am here to cater to your specific learning needs and preferences. Whatever your goals may be, I will do my best to accommodate them and provide an enjoyable and effective learning experience.
I prefer teaching in the morning, but my schedule is very flexible.
