English native speaker who has had multiple experiences teaching ESL to high school, college, and adult speakers of other languages. Although I am not a native speaker of French, I am near native and am often taken for a native speaker. I have taught/tutored French to the same groups as above.
Education / Certificates
Master's degree in Linguistics, Bachelors degree in French Language and Institutions including a year spent in Paris at the Univ. of Paris and the Ecole du Louvre.
Professional Experience
I have taught ESL at private language schools, at UCSD Extension, both in the U.S. and abroad. I have taught French in private language schools in the U.S. and tutored private students.
Teaching Approach
I adapt my teaching style to the needs of the student; use oral, visual and kinesthetic modalities; utilize my own experiences learning languages to help students since I understand the challenges involved; my strong grasp of grammar helps me teach concepts to students. I also lived in the north of France and in French-speaking Switzerland where I had teaching jobs. I speak French every day because my partner is French.
